Ren’s Story
Hi! My name is Ren (he/him). I'm glad you're here.
I went to middle school, high school, and community college in San Diego. In 2012 I transferred to Oregon State University with an associate’s degree in English (because reading is fun)… and dropped out within a year.
Turns out a four-year university was not for me at 20.
Instead, I went to beauty school in Oregon after realizing that helping people feel like themselves is what wakes me up in the morning. In 2014 I graduated and completed all licensing requirements in hair, esthetics, and nails.

Learning Behind the Chair
Once behind the chair, I completed an apprenticeship at a high-end day spa. After that, I spent the next seven years working in a hair-only shop.
While living in Corvallis, Oregon I focused on alternative styles, short hair, and vivid colors.
The person and barber I am today has been shaped by everyone who has sat in my chair or shared their experience with me.
Taking a Different Path
When 2020 hit, I realized I wanted to support my clients in a more meaningful way. So I went back to OSU and finished my Bachelor’s in Psychology.
I moved to Portland in 2022 to work in social services. That’s where I learned something important:
computers and clicking buttons… not for me.
I thrive when I’m creating space and talking with people — just not behind a desk.
In 2023 I jumped at the chance to teach at a beauty school. I firmly believe that sharing information and education helps us grow stronger as a community.
Helping people feel like themselves is what wakes me up in the morning.

Back Behind the Chair
Now in 2025, I’m back behind the chair in Portland.
I truly missed building connections and helping people feel more like themselves. The person and barber I am today has been influenced by every person who has sat in my chair or shared their experience with me.
Whether you're looking for vivid color, a fresh cut, or a place where you can just be yourself, I'd love to meet you.
I'm excited to support you in your journey.
